| Scope and content | This file mainly consists of various letters to and from the people that assisted Joe during his escape from France in 1940. Also in the file are two letters to Bertha Wright which include plenty of detail about the wider Enock family, his war service, capture by the Germans in June 1940 and subsequent escape to the UK via Spain and Portugal, life with Winifred, his retirement to Gillingham, and life as a widower |
| Notes | This collection was bequeathed to Joe's executors, George & Margaret Collie, upon his death in 1983, and was subsequently gifted to Adam Enock in February 2014. |
