Title | Letter to James Reynolds of Rufus Hart-Davis Ltd. |
Date | 30th April 1973 |
Description | Transcription: Dear Mr Reynolds Robin Wright, of Tom Stacey Ltd., thought you might be interested in the enclosed copy of 'Monsieur Joseph' which is an account of my adventures in 1940 before and after being taken prisoner-of-war. In the book there is practically no sex, violence, or 'lurve' and I am hoping that it may be in time for the reaction to these three things which, I think, will come about sooner or later. But you are the better judge of that. Robin Wright rejected it on the turn of a coin but feels that the side it turned up was wrong. As you will see by the Author's Note it is a factual account written by an Other Ranker and it is very much what happened to thousands of other O.R. escapers, very few of whom put pen to paper -- perhaps because nothing spectecular happened. I should be grateful to have your comments and to know if you would consider it for publication. |
