Description | Transcription: Dear Sir, I have written a book about my experiences of the capture by the Germans of the famous 51st. Highland Division at St. Valery-en-Caux on the 12th. of June 1940, and my subsequent escape near Lille, 120 miles away. I could make two extracts from it, which, I think, might be of interest to you. One is the description of the incredible happenings during the night of the 11/12 June, plus the actual capture. The other is what happened during the disarming of over 50,000 men -- a fantastic sight -- and various amusing incidents connected therewith. Another episode that might be of interest is how made my escape by a rather original and amusing method after we had trudged some 120 miles from St. Valery. The manuscript is nearly ready to be sent to my agent, but as I own the copyright I assume there would be no objections from you or the publishers when the book is published. If these are of interest to you perhaps you would let me know. |
