Description | Transcription: My dear Joe, I was delighted to hear your news. Sorry for the delay in answering - as you see, I have just removed, and your letter only reached me today. I have one copy of Monsieur Joseph, the one returned from Hutchinsons. But it is still in London, in the flat, as I could not cope with moving all my office stuff in one go, with all the household goods. Literally beyond my strength, I found. I am returning to Finchley one day next week to collect left-over files. M. Joseph is there, still wrapped up in Hutchinson's brown paper. I was looking at it the other day, intending to return it to you before removal, but time ran out. I am slightly worried because I don't remember any maps being incorporated in the manuscript. Was there a set of maps with each copy? I simply have no memory of them, but this could be that my mind has had too much to cope with recently to remember past data clearly. I have bought a small modern dolls-house at the back of a small estate with farmland behind the garden fence. Have an upstairs study overlooking this view. Nice walks in Blenheim Park. Hope you are both well and will visit Woodstock one (in haste) day. Yours Lorna |
