Description | Transcription: Dear Mr Encock, Thank you very much for your letter and the brief on your book. I am sure that the Battery would be delighted to have a copy of your manuscript. Incidentally, did you conscribe yourself to be “B” or “O”. Presumably it would all depend on which troop you were in. You will knoe of course that B and O are now separate, B in IRHA and O (not now RHA) in 2 Field Regiment. What you do not say is whether you feel that the book might be a commercial possibility. Is this is so I would not really be in a position to comment. You could be very lucky and get a publisher to snap it up straight away but the odds are that this would not be so. There are quite a lot of escape stories about and unless this one has some new twist to it you might have difficulty in getting it accepted. Private printing I think is out these days because of the high costs and for the same reasons subscription publishing is also difficult. I hope I don’t sound too much of a wet blanket as regards publication but I am sure the Battery would welcome a copy. |
