Dear Sir,

We have now had an opportunity of giving careful consideration to the typescript of your work MONSIEUR JOSEPH which you were recently good enough to submit to us.

We have read it with interest, and some years ago when "escape" books were popular we believe there might well have been a market for it. But unfortunately at the present time too many works of this nature have been published and we would feel from our point of view the work would not be successful if we included it in our List.

You ask that we should suggest some other publisher who might be interested. Any of the firms who publish popular general books would be worth approaching, Messrs. Hutchinson, Collins, Hodder & Stoughton, Frederick Muller, Arthur Barker, to mention but a few. A full list of publishers with descriptions of the works they publish will be found in the WRITERS' AND ARTISTS' YEAR BOOK which can be consulted at any Public Library and may well be of help to you.

It was good of you to give us an opportunity of considering your work and we only regret our answer cannot be a more favourable one.
